I started doing crossfit-style boot camps in January 2013 while I was a member of a kickboxing/MMA gym. Soon, I found myself more interested in functional fitness vs. kickboxing. After completing my first deadlift, I wanted more. I joined Crossfit Verus in the summer of 2014 as one of the “pioneers” (Raul’s quote – aka charter members). I knew from my first WOD this was “home” — Raul was focused on his members’ completing workouts with good form, while having fun. Why do I keep coming back to crossfit? Because of the supportive community and the variety of workouts. I am continually challenged – and that’s paid off. This led me to completing a 5K, a 15K, the Peachtree Road Race, Tough Mudder, and my first crossfit team competition while a member here. (Clarification: I am NOT a runner.) It also aided me in dealing with daily stressors as well as strengthened my confidence in my personal and professional life. In April 2017, I earned my level 1 cert. I hope through coaching, I can give back to this encouraging community and show others, especially women, that barbells will change your life!
